Many of our friends, neighbors and residents of Beit Shemesh struggle to make ends meet; when a crisis hits, they are unable to manage their regular monthly expenses, let alone additional ones.
The GSCC provides assistance to those in need in a multitude of ways: payment of rent, utilities, transportation, emergency dental treatments, moving expenses, eyeglasses, and other bills. We also provide food coupons, which helps free up funds for other expenses.
Working together with professionals, The Givat Sharett Chesed Committee has formed an alliance to break the cycle of poverty and lack of education amongst the youth in Beit Shemesh.

The GSCC mobilizes teams of volunteers to organize the preparation and delivery of home cooked meals to individuals and families including single parents, families with illness or in case of emergencies as well as for seniors.
Medical and psychological crises are most often accompanied by staggering expenses, direct and incidental. The GSCC assists by subsidizing medication, therapy, doctors’ bills, and needed medical supplies and equipment. We also provide financial assistance to those whose income is diminished due to illness in the family.
The beauty of the Chagim also carries with it many additional expenses. To assist the needy with these extra costs, The GSCC, in coordination with the city’s Revacha (Department of Social Services), provides a special, annual food coupon distribution for close to 1000 families and individuals. We provide funds to a Senior Citizens’ Home located in Beit Shemesh, for a special Rosh Hashanah celebration, and a Pesach Seder. In addition, we also fund other expenses at these times to bring dignity to those in need.
Moving to a new city can be stressful. The GSCC provides a soft landing by welcoming each and every newcomer to our neighborhood of Givat Sharett. Practical support is given to olim, to help ease the transition to a new life in Israel. We value community members and do our utmost to make everyone feel welcome and share our sense of community.
